Linda Olsen, an expert on housing and serving domestic violence survivors, will offer her insights on this topic and discuss how faith communities can strengthen their work for justice by including an awareness of domestic violence in their understanding of social problems like homelessness and poverty.

What’s the connection between domestic violence and homelessness?

Over 90% of homeless women have experienced severe physical abuse in their lives; 63% have been victims of intimate partner abuse as an adult.

Linda Olsen, an expert on housing and serving domestic violence survivors, will offer her insights on this topic and discuss how faith communities can strengthen their work for justice by including an awareness of domestic violence in their understanding of social problems like homelessness and poverty.

Linda Olsen is the Housing Program Coordinator with the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence (WSCADV).  Her current work, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, is to coordinate a housing first pilot project for domestic violence survivors with 13 member agencies in Washington State. She has graduate degrees in theology (Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary) and social work (Univ. of Washington).  Linda has worked in the field of domestic violence for 28 year.
